ONE HAND WASHES THE OTHER
THE STRENGTH OF SYNERGY
THE POWER OF SHARED RESPECT
It is time to heal, to come together and to work as one. Atlanta is the key, the cog and the central component to our continued success and stability. The Delta employees in ATL love this Airline and our shared history. Most Atlanta employees enjoy working in such a fine city and have a passion for all things Delta. We have sacrificed much — so that this great enterprise could continue on and prosper. Some say we have given too much. What we have sacrificed in order to save this company probably needed to be done in order for us to continue as a viable entity.
We should be proud of what we have accomplished, all of us together, both union and non-union. We who are union supporters care about this company as much as anyone else, and we identify deeply with Delta. It is part of our history and life.
We are not outsiders trying to change the culture and caring of Delta’s past history. We would love to improve upon it, to enhance it and to solidify our standing in the Airline world. The IAM union campaign we began a little over a year ago is about justice and dignity. It is about stability and consistency. We desire professionalism and security, and most of all we want this Airline to prosper and prevail. We think that we can accomplish all of this together without angst or animosity. We know that the key to prosperity and proficiency is shared mutual trust and respect; the kind of respect that one garners through signing a legally binding contract. The same trust and respect that even our CEO enjoys.
We long for the moment when our Management recognizes the Ramp workforce as a permanent and vital component in our efforts to re-emerge as a dominant force in the Airline industry. We have watched and worried as our numbers have shrunk both outside of Atlanta, and within this great city. Our organizing efforts took root precisely because of those reductions.
We can do better, together. Delta can’t do it without us. Heaven knows that our Management predecessors attempted to scale us back and failed miserably. All the essential cities that were contracted out have now come back to bite us in the “you know what” and our baggage numbers are sliding to the point of embarrassment. We can do better.
Those of us involved with IAM are not strangers or outside instigators, we are the people stacking bags with you. We believe strongly in representation and respect. We want consistency in our pay and fairness in our sick time and healthcare safety net. We desperately desire a stable source of information when injuries and accidents happen. Very simply, we want fairness in the workplace.
But most of all, we want this Airline to survive.
Look at the current most successful airline in the world. Southwest has the kind of closeness that we used to have. They are consistently on top monetarily and their employees are secure and happy. The company is nearly 100% union (with the IAM people paid the highest in the industry), and everyone supports their company. The synergy of mutual respect between management and the workforce is seamless and transparent. The money roles in and the contracts are honored. This is proof positive that WITH a union, things can be even better!
When was the last time you heard of labor conflicts at Southwest? We can accomplish the same, but it takes both of us. It takes trust and respect, the kind of respect that one gains through a contract bargained by IAM.
We are one of the central components of this airline. We want to be recognized as such. We need to be fairly compensated. Our commitment to prosperity and mutual success is unwavering. Unionizing will solidify the trust and complete our promise to all to excel and dominate. It solves the missing link in our security with Delta Air Lines. Let’s sign those IAM union cards and get it done!
