VELVET ROPE TOUR

Recently a group of Delta ramp personnel returned from ATL after experiencing the VRT. I have to admit, I know very little about this mysterious training, so I inquired about their experience. A lady, whom I greatly respect and admire, seemed dismayed and perturbed. She took me aside and asked for all the union material at my disposal. I was delighted to give her material but was curious about her experience. She told me in angered tones, how disappointed she was in her company and how absolutely unprofessional and amateurish the “production” had been handled. Not only had her experience been less than inspiring, but she was depressed by some vulgar elements, (Viagra comments). Another individual laughed about how the “trainers” were steering employees into accepting individual responsibility for our pathetic financial situation.

I had heard from others about this attempt to transfer corporate responsibility for our financial demise toward employees, and by inferring our collective culpability, accept the inevitable fact that we will, in the future have to be less compensated monetarily for our shared “sins of failure”.

What a bunch of manure! Corporate buffoons put us in financial disarray, not individual employees acting independently from each other. The last time I checked, the job we do is actually quite simple. We put people on planes with their bags, that’s it. It’s a simple task that requires complex, choreographed, thinking. Unfortunately, management has for quite some time gotten the whole process backwards. They promote simple minded people who make the endeavor too complex.

Whoever thought up the VRT or for that matter, meridian training should do the right thing and resign. In the old days, if this was a Japanese firm, they would have put on a white robe, kneeled in a corner and honorably, ended it all. We’re in the 21st century so I think quitting would be sufficient.

What a colossal waste of resources. What a miscalculation. This extraordinary attempt to re-program people into acceptance of individual guilt exposes our leadership for what they are; clueless, listless, and rudderless. They’ve steered our ship onto the rocks and want us to accept responsibility by working for less. Don’t be influenced by this expensive road show. Sign a union authorization card today. Help bring our company back from the brink of insanity and idiocy.
