THE SEASON OF GIVING
ED BASTIAN NEEDS OUR ASSISTANCE
HELPING OUT IN A TIME OF NEED
The world is in trouble. Many people are hurting and we as Delta people have always come to the need of others. Delta folks are extremely giving and have proven themselves worthy when others have gone wanting for help.
The Habitat for Humanity is a program that we Delta personnel have shown our true colors in and are so proud of the response from our best and brightest. Even in times of stress and want our people have stepped forward and shown the decency and magnanimous largess that is rarely seen elsewhere. We should be proud of our giving and selflessness and feel the warmth that swells up from within when goodness overwhelms greed.
We feel the pride of the Delta nation and know that without those who respond from within, we as a people and company would be judged harshly because of our internal wealth and stability.
It is with this background and knowledge that we come to all Delta personnel with the information that one of us is in financial trouble.
Ed Bastian, our former CFO and current caretaker of Northwest needs our financial help.
Apparently Ed has had to sell much of his stake in Delta just to make ends meet. How this happened is not for us to judge. All we know is that he must be desperate. Late in October he sold 100,000 shares of Delta stock for over ten bucks a pop and was able to make out like a bandit. God bless him and his family.
However, apparently, this transaction was not enough to hold off the creditors and money lenders and he was forced to sell more of his stake in Delta at a fire sale price of fewer than 7 bucks a share. How could this happen? Why didn’t we know of his troubles and shouldn’t we all come together and find a way to mitigate his suffering?
My God! Had he waited just a day or two longer on selling 50,000 more shares he would have banked a few hundred thousand more dollars and possibly staved off the creditors and money managers that must be dogging his life!
We Delta employees are always having fund raising events to help the needy and we should step forward and help Ed and his family in their time of need. Ed, we feel your pain; please don’t sell any more of your stock so cheaply. We’ll cook eggs and pancakes for you and raise money on your behalf. Don’t give up. We will help you.
In the mean time, All Delta employees should remember and focus on our efforts to unionize Delta and make life equitable and fair. Ed would want it that way.
In Ed’s time of difficulty and turmoil, let’s all not forget that if not for bad luck and timing, we could all be just like Ed; Rich and stupid. Not sure when to sell our ill gotten gains!
Ed, next year when the ramp is unionized and everyone else is close to doing the same, remember this; you made it happen by your greed and rush to cash out. How clueless are you?
