Northwest Ramp Agent Guest Writes
Opportunity
Or
Tremendous Loss
Read Northwest Airlines’ Q & A. Pay very close attention to question 26.
26. What happens to NWA’s collective bargaining agreements?
They will remain in place and be assumed by Delta pending conclusion of the representation elections. In the event that a NWA union wins the representation election, Northwest’s CBAs will continue to remain in place until a new combined CBA is negotiated.
In the event that the union does not win the representation election, pay and benefits will be managed by Delta’s policies and procedures.
It is very clear what we must do; we must vote Union and renegotiate a new collective bargaining agreement. It is the only way we will have an opportunity at the pay increases the company is talking to the pilots about.
It is our opportunity to get what the bankruptcy courts took.
It is our only opportunity to save what we already have.
Just in case you didn’t read the second part of the answer to question 26, it states if we do not vote union we will be managed by Delta’s policies and procedures.
WE WILL SUFFER TREMENDOUS LOSS!
Four weeks maximum vacation.
Seven use or lose sick days a year. (Your current sick bank will be gone)
No OJI hours. (Your current OJI bank will be gone)
Higher benefit premiums.
NO ongoing pension – only the IAM can provide that.
The list goes on and on, so the choice seems simple, and it is simple, just don’t forget our history. Delta will throw everything but the kitchen sink at us to try to convince us we don’t need to be Union. But always remember, if it is not in a legal binding contract we have nothing, nothing but promises. Like I said remember our history. It is time we stand together, talk with your peers at Delta share our history. Share the promise of a better future with a Union or the tremendous loss we will suffer without one.
Once again we find ourselves in a struggle to maintain the pay and benefits we worked so hard for, there is one big difference…this struggle has a jackpot — all we have to do is vote Union.
